In certain instances, finished transcripts will be made available for student to perform self-correction.  All transcription practice units are self-paced.  These transcription exercises are considered acute care transcription practicum and incorporate the medical specialties of family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics, cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, infectious disease, hematology/oncology, surgery, neurosurgery, neurology, urology, pulmonology, physiatry, radiology/nuclear medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry, otorhinolaryngology, cancer, expiration summaries, general practice, pathology/laboratory, pharmacology, orthopedics, rehabilitation, OB/Gyn, and more.  Dictations encompass the following report types:  discharge summaries, operative reports, consultations, history and physicals, and more.

Digital dictation is the most commonly used format in the medical transcription industry.  This format allows medical transcription companies/employers to make physician dictation available on their servers for download by medical transcriptionists (MTs), who are then are able to download the digital dictation files to their own computer and to transcribe them using the appropriate transcription equipment/software in their own home regardless of their geographic location. The majority of medical transcription companies who hire home-based medical transcriptionists utilize this type of technology.  For this reason, it is essential that medical transcription students obtain hands-on experience with digital technology in order to make a smooth transition directly into the medical transcription profession.

TESTING AND SKILL ASSESSMENT POLICY

QUIZZES AND TESTS:  Various quizzes and tests will be administered throughout the course timeline and at the completion of each unit. While tests must be completed for evaluation prior to beginning the subsequent sections, there are no required deadlines. RCC allows the student the flexibility to set the learning pace that is most comfortable for them. RCC instructors are always available for instruction assistance and correspondence during the entire course work timeline.

RCC recognizes that its curriculum requires a great amount of time, dedication, and discipline, and that the student’s study schedule is affected by normal day to day activities.  RCC instructors know from experience that working at home requires even greater discipline, focus, and dedication than traditional on-site jobs.

FINAL EXAMINATION: Upon completion of the transcription section of the course, there is a mandatory final examination in order for you to receive a certificate and/or use the CAI school name. This is not included in the course tuition as we do not feel you should pay for something until you are actually ready to take it. The exam fee is $89.00 and is payable upon completion of the course. The exam is part written and part transcription. The exam is physically sent to you, to be completed within a specific time frame, and returned to us to be handgraded. The exam is geared to evaluate your progress and your ability to enter into the work field. Upon obtaining a passing grade, the CAI director then provides certification, letters of recommendation, and references for job placement testing with various national companies accordingly.

TIME ALLOWED FOR COMPLETION OF COURSE CURRICULUM:

RCC offers a one-year completion time frame. If at the end of the one-year completion time frame, a student requires further study time in order to complete the course, RCC offers a month to month extension. ($50.00 fee per month required). This option is offered in case students require greater flexibility in completing the course work. At the end of the one year, if student has not completed the RCC curriculum, they should simply contact RCC to obtain an extension contract and the completion time frame will be extended once the fee is paid.

RCC understands that that every student's financial situation and study time schedule will vary. And as always, we are always striving to better our program and we do pay attention to the needs and desires of students on issues regarding flexibility as far as completion time frame and cost.

RCC provides no discount for early completion of its Medical Transcription Training Program.

WORK-AT-HOME STATEMENT

IMPORTANT NOTICE – DISCLAIMER

FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO WORK AT HOME:

The instructors of Rose Contreras Communications know from experience that working at home requires even greater discipline, focus, and dedication than traditional on-site jobs.  There are more distractors in the average home that can interfere with an individual’s ability to focus and produce enough lines to make a good income.  Our experience has shown us that if an individual lacks the discipline to punch a clock, show up to work on time, or stay focused on a task for extended periods of time, then a work-at-home situation will not work for them.  This should be considered before committing to any medical transcription education program.

Student Acknowledgement of statement above:

I have read and understand the above “Work-At-Home Statement” provided by Rose Contreras Communications.

Pay Plan Agreement/Disclosure*

In opting for any of the above payment plans, I fully understand that I am agreeing to make subsequent monthly payments to RCC on the dates set by RCC, and that I will make payments according to the plan I select as above on the credit/debit card I provide by utilizing PayPal. Should RCC not receive payment due in a timely manner, I am aware that I will then be charged a $5.00 per day late fee. This late fee will accrue for 7 day's time after which, my account will then be turned over to a collection agency. Once my account has been referred to a collection agency, I am aware that I will then be responsible to pay any outstanding balance on my account immediately including any late fees and collection processing fees assessed by RCC. Once that has occurred, and I contact RCC within 30 days from the date of the original decline wishing to continue my enrollment, I fully understand that the total remaining balance on my account including any decline/late/collection fees plus a re-enrollment fee (to be determined according to tuition guidelines at that specific time) will be required at that time in order to continue the course. I also understand that after 30 day's time, no further options will be available and collection will be continued through the collection agency, and RCC will have no further obligation to me as a student. I also fully understand that I will provide RCC with up to date contact information providing them the ability to contact me should a decline occur. If contact information is invalid or I do not receive the notification via phone and/or email for whatever reason, RCC will not be responsible and the aforementioned collection steps will ensue. Furthermore, I also fully understand that if I opt to provide RCC with a checking account debit card, in the event money is not available at the time the monthly payment is processed, that I do possess a valid credit card as an alternative means to process payment. I also fully understand that should I not abide by these payment plan guidelines for whatever reason, RCC has the right to void the payment plan agreement and require payment of the remaining balance on my account.
